When To Replace Your Tyres
The legal minimum tread depth for cars in the UK is 1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tyre. Cracks, bulges and uneven wear also mean a tyre needs looking at, and a tyre below the legal limit will fail an MOT. If you are not sure, bring it in and we will take a look.

How do I know when my tyres need replacing?
The legal minimum tread depth for cars in the UK is 1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tyre. Many tyre makers and motoring organisations advise replacing tyres sooner, nearer 3mm, because grip in the wet drops as the tread wears. Cracks, bulges and uneven wear also mean a tyre needs looking at.
What happens if my tyres are below the legal limit?
Driving on an illegal tyre can lead to a fine of up to 2,500 pounds and three penalty points for each tyre, and a tyre below the limit will fail an MOT.
How do I find my tyre size?
It is printed on the sidewall of the tyre, in a format like 205/55 R16. It is often also in the car handbook. If you are not sure, give us your registration and we will check it for you.
Do I need to replace all four tyres at once?
Not always. As a minimum, the tyres on the same axle should be the same size and type. We will look at the condition of all four and advise what suits your car.
Will you tell me the price before fitting?
Yes. We confirm the tyres available and the price before any work starts.
